The Netherlands takes world salsa dancing record

The Netherlands is once again a world record holder.

On Saturday during summer carnival, 572 couples danced the salsa simultaneously beating the previous world record of 451, the Metro reports.

The old record was set in Venzuela, the land of salsa.

More than 1100 people participated in the event. Some were professional dancers but parents with children also showed their skills. An expert panel monitored the attempt and a cheer erupted round the square when it became apparent that the record had been broken.

Workshops had been held to properly prepare the participants.
