Police catch five copper thieves in Rotterdam harbour area

The vigilance of the Seaport Police paid off on Monday with the capture of five copper thieves, reports The Metro.They were a 47 year old Dutchman and four others of unknown age.

The Dutchman was first caught while cycling with cut power lines in Droespolderweg in Europoort. He could give no explanation of origin of the cables and was arrested. Investigation showed the cables came from a nearby industrial site. The man has been issued with a court summons.

An hour later a new report came in of a metal theft in Heijplaat. A witness saw men taking metal from a building there and alerted the police. The police arrested the four and took them into the police station. The men are still in custody.
